Photographs of a person dressed as the Pink Panther during protests in France turned out to be fake. Google's SynthID tool detected AI-generated content in several of the images, which circulated on social media from October 15 and showed the character in front of a police vehicle, among protesters or being dragged by officers. One post on X exceeded 16,000 shares. Checks by VerificaRTVE also identified the use of OpenAI in one of the images, and TruthScan estimated a 99% probability of artificial generation in the three examined.
A new WhatsApp scam uses polite, well-written messages sent from known contacts to ask for votes for "Eliska", supposedly a friend's daughter, in a contest whose prize is a free dance class. The link leads to a website where two girls, Eliska and Sofie, appear as finalists in a contest tied to a real dance center in Prague. Those who complete the process hand their phone over to cybercriminals, who can access personal data, passwords, card numbers and contacts.

According to Apple, on iPhone orange indicates microphone use and green indicates the camera or both; on Android 12 or later an indicator also appears when an app accesses these components, according to Google. OpenAI expanded ChatGPT Ads to 26 new markets on October 21, bringing the advertising platform to 89 countries, according to Unite.AI. More than 100,000 advertisers have used the channel since its launch, just over eight months ago. Of the new markets, 14 are Latin American, including Colombia. Ads appear only on the Free and Go plans, for users over 18, and OpenAI recommends reference bids of between US$3 and US$5 per click for traffic campaigns.
