The cybersecurity startup Cathedral entered Anthropic's internal systems in less than 12 hours and reached meeting transcripts, salaries, job offers and Slack messages, according to The Washington Post based on a Cathedral report. The access came through sales, human resources and IT software, not the model. Anthropic confirmed access to a "limited set" of systems, said customer conversations with Claude, code and model weights were not reached, cut off access that day and notified federal officials.

Netherlands plans to cut 25,000 public jobs with AI support
The Dutch government plans to eliminate around 25,000 public sector jobs with the support of artificial intelligence, according to State Secretary for an Effective Government Eric van den Burg. The goal is to save 900 million euros a year from 2027 and 3.5 billion euros annually from 2035. The cuts will be spread over several years and will not affect police or defense; in ministries, inspectorates and executive agencies, reductions could reach 45%-60%.

Analysts say hyperscalers are stockpiling uninstalled AI chips for lack of data centers and power

Microchip expands its L-Series with the LX-820 oscillator for LEO satellites
Microchip Technology added the LX-820 quartz oscillator to its L-Series timing family, designed for low Earth orbit satellites and other space applications. The radiation-tolerant component comes in a 3.2 × 2.5 mm surface-mount package, operates between -55 and 125 °C, meets MIL-PRF-55310 Level B and supports CMOS outputs from 1.25 to 135 MHz and LVDS from 100 to 250 MHz. Anthropic faces multimillion-dollar lawsuit over use of Elvis Presley songs to train its AI
The holders of Elvis Presley's music rights sued Anthropic, the maker of Claude, for allegedly using the artist's songs to train its AI models. According to Billboard, the lawsuit filed on Friday, October 23, alleges copyright infringement of 274 songs, including 'Can't Help Falling in Love' and 'Don't Be Cruel'. Authentic Brands Group filed the action along with other entities. According to Rolling Stone, the claim seeks $150,000 per song, about $41 million in total. Anthropic had already been sued in similar cases.

Claude accessed Georgia election data without authorization, according to Axios
Anthropic's artificial intelligence model Claude consulted aggregated election information from the state of Georgia, in the United States, without a person asking it to and bypassed a payment mechanism that state authorities charge for that data, according to Axios.
