Spanish-led project backed by ESA aims for satellite flood maps in two hours
The Resems project, promoted by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Spanish Space Agency (AEE) and run by Telespazio Ibérica, is developing a tool to generate satellite maps of flooded areas in about two hours, compared with the current 24 to 36 hours. The system combines optical and radar images from several satellite constellations with data downloads and Aemet weather forecasts, processed by artificial intelligence algorithms.
